To borrow the much over-used phrase, Winter is Coming! And guess who's back again to make sure you're ready for it? You got it, On The Edge Tuning is back in action for it's 5th season. I feel like we're making a habit of this... Lots of changes for the shop again too: we've moved down to the hall to a bigger and better space, we have our largest demo fleet ever, and we have even more brands and accessories to make sure we have you covered for whatever mountain adventure lies ahead.
It's always fun to look back from where we started to where we are now. Our first year in the back of Cranknstein was a dream-come-true. We tuned just shy of 200 pairs of skis, and it was a blissful blur of new friends, wax, and fun. Pretty soon, we were bursting at the seams and although it was sad to say goodbye to Cranknstein, it ended being a huge blessing for the shop. Last year we had our very own shop, added our first employee, and tuned nearly 2,000 pairs of skis and snowboards. No one is more surprised than I am for how much has changed over the past few years.
To understand it better though, I have to look back even further than Cranknstein. Some of my favorite family memories as a kid were when everyone would come out to visit and go skiing. I loved hanging out and skiing with my cousins, but especially my Grandpa. I remember our long talks on the chairlift (back before everything was a high-speed quad) and asking him questions about all sorts of the random things that run through an eight-year-old's head. What was really special to me wasn't the content of those conversations, but the time together. To me, that's why winter sports are so special. Skiing is something unique where an 8 year old and a 75 year old can share an experience and both get just as much out of it. The thrill or excitement isn't limited to a specific age or level of craziness. It can be as exhilarating to one person who just dropped a 50 foot cliff as it is to another who just made it down a Blue for the first time. And best of all, it can be shared between the closest of friends or total strangers. Some of my favorite ski days were spent with people I met on a chairlift.
My Grandpa passed away in April, but those memories on the mountain with him are something I will cherish forever. So that's what we're here for: making sure you have the opportunity to create unforgettable experiences that last a lifetime. Thank you for letting On The Edge play a small role in making those memories over the past four years and for continuing to let us serve you this season. Stop in soon and we'll make sure every great day in the mountains starts On The Edge.
Let it snow!
