I have to admit, I'm in a little bit of shock as I sit down to write my eleventh annual letter. On The Edge officially began on October 1st, 2012 and I can't believe its been a decade already!! Its crazy to remember that first year; the anticipation, the excitement, and having absolutely no idea what I was getting into. And to think, I was so nervous when that first tune job came walking to the back of Cranknstein that I was shaking. Ten years later, I still get excited every time someone brings a tune into our shop.
Over the years, On The Edge has gone through a lot of changes. Every time we've moved, changed, and rebuilt, we've learned more about ourselves and our community. From day one, the goal of this shop has been to share our passion for winter sports. We want every person that walks through our doors to get as much joy and excitement out of being in the mountains as we do. Thankfully, we've been blessed with an incredible community that already shares that passion.
These past few months have been our first real attempt at extending our passion for winter sports into the summer as well. We've had a great time diving into the world of water sports (pun intended). Most of all, it's been amazing to not only get to serve our community for the other half of the year, but to have yet another awesome genre of activities that get people out to enjoy God's incredible creation.
While some people might view the pursuit of these passions as trivial and inconsequential, the reality is that we get so much more than the short lived rush of sliding down a mountain or cutting across a wake. These sports that we love doing open doors to something much deeper. There are few activities in the world that can offer heart pumping adrenaline one moment and complete peace and serenity the next. Spending time on the snow or water is unlike anything else and provides opportunities for us to relax, have fun, learn, discover, exercise, build relationships, share adventures, and so much more.
In summary, get out there! On The Edge will continue to be here to help prepare you, encourage you, and hear about your adventures for the next decade and beyond. Thank you for being with us these past 10 years and for helping us make On The Edge so much more than your average ski shop. Hope to see you soon!
